Recently, I’ve been frequently sipping turmeric tea also known as golden milk. In Urdu/Hindi, it is known as haldi dood. I like to call it healthy dude because I’m like that.
In colder temperatures, it’s especially soothing to have a warm and delicious beverage. Turmeric, especially when combined with saffron and cardamom has significant antidepressant qualities, related to dopamine and norepinephrine. When combined with black pepper it is easily absorbed by the body for anti-inflammatory relief. A delicious beverage that is actually good for mental health. My personal recipe includes coconut milk, almond milk or cashew milk. I like cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, a dash of black pepper, saffron threads, and of course turmeric, heated and melded together.
